Aztec Paganism is the Mesoamerican religion of the Aztecs. Like other Mesoamerican religions, it has elements of human sacrifice in connection with a large number of religious festivals which are held according to patterns of the Aztec calendar. It has a large and ever increasing pantheon; the Aztecs often adopt deities of other geographic regions or peoples into their own religious practice. Aztec cosmology divides the world into upper and nether worlds, each associated with a specific set of deities and astronomical objects. Important in Aztec religion are the sun, moon and the planet Venus — all of which hold different symbolic and religious meanings and are connected to deities and geographical places.
Reformation Creation RequirementsEdit
Reform the Aztec Faith
- The Moral Authority of Aztecs must be at least 50%
- We need at least 750 piety
- Holy Sites
- Rome, Rome
- St Denis, Paris
- Cordoba, Cordoba
- Sidi, Marrakech
- St Pauls, Middlesex
Reforming the Aztec faith will turn it into an organised religion with a religious head. Unless you control all of the holy sites, doing so requires 50% Moral Authority and control of 3 Aztec holy sites. It costs you 750 Piety. Rulers of a Reformed Pagan religion can use the holy war Casus Belli, get access to most succession laws, no longer suffer from prestige loss while at peace, and will have less trouble with independent minded vassals. However, they also lose the defensive supply limit penalty for religious enemies in their territoy an vassals will get upset if you have their levies raised for too long for no good reason. Rulers will be allowed to proselytize other non-reformed pagan rulers and the conversion penalty will be removed for reformed pagans.
